You are what you eat...

Kind of literally, but mostly figuratively.

One thing that I’ve picked up on throughout a great part of my endeavors is that for the most part people are and become who and what they associate themselves with.

Although this may seem like a very simple concept to grasp and quite obvious for that matter, it is a notion that has benefited me greatly and something I feel people don’t use to their advantage and tend to forget.

Whether it be something small and less beneficial like getting that good grade in your stats class, or landing that gig that is essential for success in your career path. Either way, somewhere, their is someone or something that has that experience or that extra bit of knowledge you require. So do the obvious thing and associate yourself with it. Just as is referenced multiple times in the classic book “Think and Grow Rich”, Napoleon Hill dedicated a chapter to “The Mastermind Group”, which he sees as taking advantage of others strengths to compliment your weaknesses and force progression. Everyone knows the more the merrier and that two minds are better than one.

Sometimes it can be as easy as putting in the extra work, but real progression and skill are built most effectively and efficiently by associating yourself with people who have already succeeded with what you aim to do. Doing so is also a great way to increase and sustain your motivation for success. Which is why many successful businessmen like Mark Zuckerberg have reverted to mentors. Nothing teaches better than experience; so ask that professional you see here and there with an awesome job to a coffee date, or that friend with really good grades to hang out. Put your pride aside and ask questions, lots of questions, never shy out of opportunities because you're not already an expert at something yourself. Everyone needs to start somewhere.

Hell, if after that inspiring insert you still absolutely cannot work up the guts to ask that experienced individual for some tips and tricks of the trade, than maybe you should look into buying a book. They’re usually written by someone with an expertise and experience in a specialized area.

YouAreWhatYouEat

Use this train of thought to benefit you in more ways than I’ve mentioned. Do everything in your power to cut all negative ties, whether they be negative peers, bad habits or even unhealthy foods that make you feel anything but good.

After all you are what you eat.
